So I went up to Albury this past weekend at the invitation of Tubby and Kat
It was a pretty sweet weekend, on Friday after catching the V-Line train/bus up, we had a Zombie Survival Party. Lot’s of fake blood, guns and Rock Band! Although by the end of the night my ears were ringing from the amount of caps guns that went off in my ear lol. Then spent Saturday chilling with Tubby, Kat and the others that stayed the night. Once it got down to the 3 of us, we played some Scene It on the Xbox 360, went for a classy dinner at McDonalds and then when Kat had gone off to work, Tubby and I watched Watchmen… Except I fell asleep less than halfway through and got woken up at 12:30! But it was awesome because when I went to bed, I managed to sleep for about 12 hours in total. I awaoke the next day to find Kat had come back from work and Tubby was now at work, so we headed down to Centro Albury to have lunch with him, then went home and played more Scene It
Finally, I headed off at 4:40pm on Sunday for the 4hr trip back home. Classic moment as I got a phone call just seconds after pulling out from the station in the bus from Tubby asking which side of the bus I was sitting on and looking out the window and seeing him in his ute!
Thanks so much to Tubby and Kat for an awesome weekend and letting me crash at their place. Never knew I could have so much fun in the country! But I guess it’s the people that make it fun for you
Plus to everyone I met, was awesome to meet you and the people that I’ve so far kept in contact with from Friday night, hopefully we’ll party again soon
Me and Tubby… I nicknamed him Uncle Boris in this photo!

Kat is ready to attack some bitches… And do a barrel roll!

Have you ever watched a documentary, seen someone on there and gone “Man, I would fucking LOVE to have their job!”? That’s been happening to me a bit lately. I’ve been catching up on some documentaries I’ve recorded off Foxtel, all of them to do with the Tudor dynasty in England. I’ve watched the historians sitting there talking about the Tudors and England at the time and envied their knowledge on the subject. Seen them looking through the British archives at documents hundreds of years old. Today I actually let out a groan of jealousy when I saw one researcher handling the original copy of Robert Dudley’s final letter to Queen Elizabeth I. So, I start thinking, why shouldn’t I do this sort of thing? Why don’t I study up more on this period of history in a more formal way and do something about my curiosity? Why not formally educate myself? But you know what, I can’t afford to be a full time student… But of course we live in the age of the Internet! So I start trying in desperation to find online courses (be it through Universities or other institutions), but guess what? Not many of them are actually any good! Plus they’re expensive as all hell. I mean I do plenty of my own study, and I’m now reading books about the Tudors, but why, to be considered to work in this sort of field (and how would you be considered in the first place? Where do you find these sorts of jobs? At universities?), do you need to have a degree and not be able to just sit there and intelligently and passionately discuss the subject that you specialise in? And the trouble is, I wouldn’t want to go through all the bullshit of a 3 year degree, plus a doctorate, and have to study subjects I’m not interested in, to be considered an authority of something I am interested in. So yeah, I will continue my own study of the topic, but how far can I really go without having a piece of paper? No where. And that really sucks.

So since I got Foxtel back in April, I really haven’t been gaming much. Mostly because my sweet little LCD TV only has one AV input. Yes, I’ve played a little Starcraft on the PC, but since my Xbox 360 makes up the majority of my gaming because I play it in bed when I feel too tired to sit at my computer, I haven’t really done much. I am just plain lazy and could not be stuffed having to reach round the back of my TV, unplug my Foxtel iQ box and plug in my 360, detangle cords etc. But today, I finally did something about it. I bought a sweet AV splitter that allows me to have 4 pieces of equipment hooked up to my TV. So far, I’ve just plugged in my Foxtel and 360, but have been considering hooking up my DVD player. May not be worth it though, considering I can play DVDs on my 360. But to celebrate I also bought Bioshock, because it was on sale for $40. Yes I know the game is relatively old now, but hey, sometimes I just can’t afford to pay full price for a new release. But so far, I am enjoying it, though it is quite early in the game (maybe about 20-30mins in?), but have already unlocked 2 achievements and unlocked another achievement in Puzzle Fighter HD. This splitter was absolutely worth it, best $30 I have spent in a LONG time! For anyone else with the same problem, I highly recommend you get one! I also picked up some sweet Pacman jewellery from Diva today! Got a pair of earrings and a bracelet
Anyway, I must turn my attention back to my 360. She’s been feeling neglected lately, and Bioshock does call to me!
