I’m giving up smoking people… It’s just the right time for me to quit right now. For all those who heard me say I would never give up unless I was pregnant, No I’m not pregnant After starting to experience headaches and a slight chest pain while smoking, and knowing someone at work had a supposed heart attack probably caused by years of smoking made me reach the quitting epiphany. I finished off my pack today and went and bought nicotine gum instead of another pack of smokes. So far I’ve only had one piece of gum since 1pm today. Not really feeling the cravings

Today I faced one of my first real challenges since becoming 2IC. One of the bakers decided to take an extra 20mins on his lunchbreak, and it was of course on a day that I was in charge because the bakery manager was off. Well, I wasn’t going to let it go, and confronted him about it when he got back. Of course, he didn’t like being challenged by a 20 year old female… He’s a lot older, so someone like me telling him what to do is understandably a bit of a blow to him. But it’s my job to keep them in check, so I told him it was unacceptable. Basically I got a “Who the hell do you think you are?” reaction from him… I calmy replied “I’m your 2IC.” He didn’t like that, and after a bit more debate he walked off swearing… So I went to the store manager and it ended with him being made to apologise to me and the store manager assuring me I was 100% right in my actions. I’m sure said person is still unhappy with that, but its good to know that I’m starting to assert myself in this position and after today they realise that I’m not someone that can be walked over. I did see it as a bit of a respect issue though. Just because I’m the youngest person there and female, doesn’t mean I deserve any less respect, especially since I am in charge of them and I hope after today anyone that has any qualms about me being able to do this job realises that.

On a lighter note, im starting to find myself more and more intrigued by antiques. A bit random, but hey, gotta like something! I’ve always been a real history buff, always love visiting historic places… Recently became addicted to the double header on channel 9 of Bargain Hunt and Antiques Roadshow. I’d love to spend the day going antiquing somewhere but I wouldn’t really be able to buy much because I don’t really have room. The thought of objects that are old and with a good history and story behind it just fascinates me though… I guess some of the things that have really caught my eye on shows like this are things that are pre-20th century. Can’t wait to head over to Europe at some stage, I think I’d be in heaven!

Speaking of travelling, I’m well on the way to my saving for my next trip. Just a couple more pays, and I have the air fare I did have to pay my phone bill today which put me back just over $200, but with what I’m earning now, it won’t be that long before I have the money Plus I’m going to Adelaide next weekend for Amy’s birthday, which I’m pretty excited about!

Well I don’t think I can say anything else other than fuck. As many of you would know, there was a triple shooting in the Melbourne CBD yesterday. A man was attacking a woman, and he ended up shooting her and two bystanders that tried to come to her aid. One of these bystanders was a 43 year old lawyer. He, as of writing, was the only one to die. He also happened to be one of my mum’s best friends brothers.

To watch something like that on TV is surreal, but you don’t take as much notice of it, because you know you and your loved ones are safe. You feel for the people, but at the same time feel that massive sense of relief, that “It only happens to other people” feeling. Well, this morning I was woken by my mother telling me it was her friends brother. It broke my heart in two, because i’ve met this friend, she’s been at our house, my mum sees her every couple of weeks… To know her brother was killed for trying to do a good deed just makes my stomach turn even more than it did yesterday when it was “the other people”… To know someone you know is affected so strongly by this sort of tragedy is just one of those feelings that creates a bottomless pit in your stomach.

My heart goes out to her and her family at this time. I already considered his actions heroic when I heard he died trying to help a woman in danger… But fuck, now I feel for them even more.

Guh been a while since I posted on here… Sorry to anyone who actually checks this hoping I update Though I doubt that’s very many people lol

So the denwO party didn’t end up happening… Well at least not at my place. I came down with a pretty bad case of tonsillitis so I couldn’t host it. Some people did end up catching up in the city for dinner, but unfortunately I didn’t get to attend. Ah well, I guess shit happens sometimes, so although I was pretty disappointed, I guess it couldn’t be helped.

So not much else has been happening. I got my Pure Pwnage DVD and soundtrack a week ago and spent the whole day watching all the eps and the special features All I have to do now is watch the eps again with commentary… Might do that tomorrow. Was going to do it today, but I was so tired, I ended up sleeping on and off all day. The extras bloody rock though Anyone who hasn’t bought the DVD yet, I strongly recommend it! Plus the soundtrack is awesome “I wanna be your gamer girl” and “Nascent” are both wicked tracks!

Savings coming along for the hopeful trip overseas in sept/oct… Trying my best! lol! Dad came down to see me yesterday too, which was pretty damn cool Went to Vegie Valley for an awesome meal and he gave me stuff he bought me from Peru, most of it made from alpaca wool It’s all pretty damn cool!

So coming up in my world… Not much. I’m going to Adelaide July6-8 for Amy’s birthday… That’s about all I have to look forward to at the moment! Works going alright. No dramas there. Meh. I guess that’s all that’s been happening with me!

Lol so could not think of a witty title for this post. But meh. So my weekend in Adelaide was good Got in on Friday night and basically talked with Aunty Sav for a while in her room, then chilled with mum and Uncle John for a little while before taking advantage of Foxtel before bed Saturday I went to West Lakes where I ran into Peter out the front of Coles and bought my awesome outfit for Uncle John’s birthday party that night The party was awesome, 60’s themed. There’s a couple of photos on my flickr (link in the previous post). Sunday was good too Amy and I went to the Port v Geelong match… Although we lost horribly and I ended up with a massive cold, it was still a great atmosphere to the day And on Monday I went to Nonna’s house for lunch before mum and I headed back to Melbourne

This Saturday night marks one of the big occassions of the Pure Pwnage Melbourne fan meets… We will be joined by denw0 and his girlfriend at a party at my place Afaik, this is the first time someone from overseas will be here in Melbourne and meeting up with community members. It looks to be a great night

I’m also in the planning stages of a trip back overseas Not saying the location yet, because I don’t want to raise peoples hopes in case it doesn’t end up happened… But with what I’m getting paid and the price of the airfare I found, it seems very possible While overseas I plan to meet up with someone that’s become very special to me He’s a great guy  and I really like him ^_^ So… Please oh gods of making money, let me save the amount I need!!
